Course Content
A1 - Beginner
At the A1 level, you are able to understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple phrases that help meet basic needs. You can introduce yourself and others, and you can ask and answer simple questions about personal details, for example, where someone lives, people they know, or things they have. At this level, you can communicate in a simple way, provided the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to help.
Listening:
You can understand familiar words and simple sentences when they are spoken slowly and clearly.
Speaking:
You can communicate using short, simple sentences.
Reading:
You can understand individual words and simple sentences, such as those found on signs and posters.
Writing:
You can write short, simple notes and postcards and fill out basic forms.
A2 - Elementary
At the A2 level, you can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of immediate relevance, for example, personal and family information, shopping, work, or your local area. You can communicate in simple, routine situations that involve a direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. At this level, you can also use simple language to describe your background, education, immediate surroundings, and topics related to your basic needs.
Listening:
You can understand the overall meaning of short, simple messages spoken clearly.
Speaking:
You can make yourself understood using a range of simple sentences in familiar everyday situations.
Reading:
You can read and understand short, simple texts, such as advertisements or personal letters.
Writing:
You can write short, simple notes, messages, emails, and personal letters.
B1 - Intermediate
At the B1 level, you can understand the main points when clear, standard language is used and when the topic is familiar, for example, related to work, school, or leisure. You can handle most situations that may arise when traveling in a region where the language is spoken. You are able to express yourself simply and coherently on familiar topics and areas of personal interest. At this level, you can talk about experiences and events, describe dreams, hopes, and ambitions, and briefly explain your plans and opinions.
Listening:
You can understand important information related to work, school, leisure, and similar topics.
Speaking:
You can take part in conversations about family, hobbies, work, travel, and current events.
Reading:
You can understand texts written in everyday language for general or professional purposes.
Writing:
You can write simple, coherent texts on familiar subjects and topics.
B2 - Upper Intermediate
At the B2 level, you can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics. You can also follow technical discussions in your field of specialization. You are able to communicate fluently and spontaneously, making normal conversations with native speakers possible without much effort from either side. At this level, you can express yourself clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics, explain your viewpoint on current issues, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different options.
Listening:
You can follow longer statements and reports, as well as most films and TV programs, if the topics are reasonably familiar.
Speaking:
You can express your ideas relatively fluently and spontaneously and take an active part in discussions.
Reading:
You can understand articles, reports, and contemporary literary prose.
Writing:
You can write detailed texts such as essays, reports, and letters, and present arguments effectively.
C1 - Advanced
At the C1 level, you can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognize implicit meaning. You express yourself fluently and spontaneously without often needing to search for the right words. At this level, you can use the language effectively and flexibly in social, professional, educational, and academic contexts. You are able to express yourself clearly, in a structured and detailed way on complex subjects, using a variety of linking words and expressions appropriately.
Listening:
You can understand longer reports, lectures, TV shows, and movies without much effort.
Speaking:
You can express your thoughts spontaneously, fluently, and precisely.
Reading:
You can understand complex and longer texts, whether technical or literary in nature.
Writing:
You can write clear, well-structured texts on complex topics in an appropriate style.
C2 - Proficiency
At the C2 level, you can understand almost everything you read or hear with ease. You are able to summarize information from various written and spoken sources, and present it clearly, giving reasons and explanations in a coherent way. At this level, you can express yourself spontaneously, very fluently, and precisely, even in complex situations. You are also able to convey subtle shades of meaning.
Listening:
You can understand spoken language effortlessly, even when it is fast and colloquial.
Speaking:
You can participate easily in all conversations and discussions, and understand and use idiomatic and colloquial expressions.
Reading:
You can understand original texts of any complexity with ease.
Writing:
You can write sophisticated, complex texts and effectively summarize and discuss specialized texts and literature.
